Here you can see in detail what you can do with
iPhoto to JAlbum Exporter:
Usage
-
Start iPhoto to JAlbum Exporter. It tries to locate your iPhoto Library folder. In case it isn't found or you want to use
a different folder use the Browse... button to locate it yourself or drag the iPhoto Library folder from Finder to the textfield.
-
Set the output folder (Browse... button, Drag and Drop, manual entering). The exported photos are stored in this folder. Very important: existing files
will be overwritten! So make sure you create a new folder somewhere that is used for exports only.
-
Optional settings:
General options:
-
Delete output folder. Removes all files in the output folder before the exporting process starts.
-
Remember input/output settings. Stores the input-/output-settings permanently.
-
Use 'albumfiles.txt' for sorting. The order of your photos and albums are stored in albumfiles.txt, which are used
by JAlbum. If you uncheck this option the image files and folders will be renamed to 001xxx, 002xxx, 003xxx, ... to ensure the correct order.
Export options:
-
Export captions. The captions from iPhoto are stored in comments.properties files where JAlbum will find and use them.
-
Export comments. iPhoto comments are stored in the comments.properties files as well. With Use separate files comments are stored in a separate file (filename.txt). Example: the comment for 000_0081.jpg is stored in file 000_0081.txt.
-
Export ratings. Your ratings from iPhoto are shown as (***) in the web album later on (also stored in comments.properties).
-
Set album folder icon. Sets the image with highest rating in iPhoto as the album folder icon (meta.properties is used for this).
Export mode:
-
iPhoto album hierarchy. Keeps the iPhoto album hierarchy while exporting.
-
Date hierarchy (year / month). Creates a new hierarchy while exporting, according to the date of the photos. With Lanugage you can define the language of the month names, e. g. 2006/January (English) or 2006/Januar (German).
Filtering:
-
Set filter... Exclude images with specific keywords. E. g. you could exclude all photos tagged as 'private' before exporting them to the web.
Directory renaming:
With this feature you can have directory names that are different from the album names. E. g. an album folder called Copenhagen December 2006 can be renamed into copenhagen200612. This makes linking to your album page much easier, especially if you have special characters (like umlauts) in your album name.
See this album page as an example for different album- and directory-names.
The directory name is set in the Comments field for each folder. Simply append dirname=abc to that field, where abc is the directory name). See this page for details.
-
Select one or more folders/albums from your iPhoto album archive and press Start export.
-
Start JAlbum and set your previously selected output folder as Image directory in JAlbum. Make album starts the album creation.
